Pictures A, C and D are all correct.
You probably selected D because it looks familiar, just bigger. Pictures A and C are customer service valves. C still operates with a quarter turn (90°) to shut the flow of gas — if you look closely there is a stop that prevents more than a 90° turn.
B is a main valve. Responders should not operate main valves unless under the direct supervision of the gas company. The main valve sits below a cover as shown.
